Scientific studies from the University of Wisconsin, NSF International, Ohio State University, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and the American Society of Agricultural Engineers are referenced in the fact sheet.

The Wisconsin and NSF research studies were funded by the Water Quality Research Council (WQRC), and, gratifyingly, the three main EPA conclusion points are taken directly from those two works.
