The long time option that most people find reliable is chlorine.  This is an efficient way to get rid of bacteria, but because it poses issues with bathing and other concerns, it is highly recommended that it be removed.  So basically, you will have a chlorine water treatment system located at the well and then before the water enters the house, you’ll have the water go through a Central Water System.
